My name is Courtney Thomas and I have been teaching kindergarten, first, and/or second grade for over a decade (!) now and I am so excited for our next adventure in kindergarten!
I am so thrilled to be a part of your child's life this year and I promise to do everything possible to make school a successful and fun and safe place
I believe that all students can learn with encouragement, high expectations, love and perseverance. In our classroom every child is an integral member with so much to offer. We believe that mistakes open the door to new learning and that taking a risk is MUCH more important than being correct. We change our mind and our thinking. We can laugh with each other and even at ourselves! My whole teaching philosophy can be summed up in these three ideas:
be real, be reasonable, and be kind
- I am originally from southern Vermont and moved to Burlington when I started college at UVM
- I live in Essex with my husband Cole, our children Lulu, Leif, and Tilly, our kitty Bandit and dog Ollie
- I love to read, hike, ski, garden, swim and spend time with my family and friends
