100th Day and Valentine's Day!

100th Day and Valentine’s Day

We are very excited for our 100th day celebration on Monday, February, 8th  (This could change with a snow day or if I miscounted).

Your children have been looking forward to this celebration since the first day of school.   IT’S A BIG DEAL!!!! Our celebration will be an all-day event with activities, projects and a 100th day cake.   I will supply the cake and paper products. We will NOT have a typical “party” at 2 as our festivities will be all day. So parents you are off the hook for coming in.

100’s Project
One of the things we will do to celebrate the 100th day is create a 100’s museum. Please help your son/daughter work on a collection of 100 things or help them decorate/represent the number 100 in some way. Here are some ideas; chain of 100 paper clips, a collection of 100 baseball cards, a necklace with 100 beads, cereal or pasta. Your child could make a building made from 100 blocks, legos or sugar cubes.  Your child could also make the number 100 and decorate it w/stickers, pom-poms or by coloring it. All ideas are accepted; it is so much fun to see all of the creative things that come in. This project should not cost you any money. Please use things you already have at home.  Please send this project into school as soon as it is completed, but before February 8th.  Thank you in advance for helping your child with this project.

We will have a small Valentine’s Day party sometime on the 14th.  Students should bring in a valentine for every student in our class. Again, we will do valentine related activities all day and are not having a typical party. I am not sure what time the food portion of our celebration will be yet so again this will be a student only party. I am attaching an up -to- date class list.

The electronic party sign up comes to you by way of the email address you gave the office at the beginning of the year.  If your email has changed, please notify the office. If you don’t use email but want to send something in for a party, just send me a note and I will let you know what we need.

Thank you,
Courtney

Reading Strategies

We are learning some reading strategies for figuring out tricky words. When you're reading with your child you might suggest they try one of these strategies to solve the puzzling word!

Fun with sight words

We practiced writing our sight words with scratch art paper! So fun! Thanks to the O'Dell's for gifting it to our class :)
